Our Story

It's all about a feeling!

For us Scandinavian Design is all about a feeling: the feeling of being at home. It’s more than a school of design or a specific style and it’s our mission to share that feeling with our friends in Greece. We carefully select what we believe represents the very best of Scandinavian Design – from the masterpieces of Arne Jacobsen and Hans J. Wegner to the beautiful new creations of young but already enormously successful Danish brands such as Muuto and HAY. We are also passionate about hand-picking original works from small producers and young designers, in order to curate a mix that makes us feel right at home!

We serve private customers from our Kolonaki retail store, as well as working closely with architects, interior designers and end clients to create perfect solutions for everything from intimate homes to large commercial projects

Made to last

Let’s face it: Shipping furniture and other design objects across the globe, can never be good for the environment. That’s why we take our selection very seriously. We want your furniture to last for life and we try to curate the collection with a focus on timelessness and not trends. We work with suppliers that focuses on developing long-lasting products that minimise our environmental impact and that optimise the use of sustainable materials.

A few terms, labels and certificates to look out for:

Water-based lacquer: Emits significantly fewer pollutants, which makes it much more environmentally friendly, contributing to a healthier working/living environment and better indoor climate than standard lacquers.

FSC Certification: The majority of the wooden furniture in our collection is made from FSC™ certified wood. This wood is sourced from sustainable forests with responsible management that reduces deforestation and ensures the forests’ future preservation. Certified products are your assurance that our wooden furniture has been produced in a socially, economically and environmentally responsibly way.

EU Eco label: The official European ecolabel of environmental excellence that is awarded to products and services meeting high environmental standards throughout their life cycle – from raw material extraction, to production, distribution and disposal – the products have a disassembly instruction.

Nordic Swan Ecolabel: The official Nordic ecolabel – and among the world’s toughest environmental certifications. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel works to reduce the overall environmental impact from production and consumption. Therefore, the Nordic Swan Ecolabel evaluates the entire product life cycle and the environmental problems that arise along the way – for the benefit of the environment, climate, humans and the earth’s resources.

Maintenance & Care

General Care

• Always follow any care instructions included with the specific product.
• Products made from natural materials such as wood and marble will have unique colour/surface variations.
• Always use mild cleaning agents – never use harsh, chemical cleaning products.
• To preserve the colour of the materials, avoid direct sunlight whenever possible.
• Never place products close to heat sources.
• Always protect surfaces against direct heat, humidity and strongly coloured items.
• Unless items are explicitly approved for outdoor use, they are meant for indoor use and should never be used outdoors.

You can download a good general maintenance guide from HAY here.

Please note that all tips are purely recommendations. Always consult a professional for specific advise.

Textiles

Maintain your upholstery by vacuuming it regularly with a soft upholstery attachment. Try to avoid placing fabric in direct sunlight, and use curtains and blinds to protect your furniture when possible. Try to avoid spot cleaning, but if necessary try blotting the spot with a paper towel or clean white cloth. Avoid rubbing as this will create a larger stain. If further care is required, please check the specific cleaning requirements of your fabric to ensure that the appropriate method is used, this will ensure no further damage and the best possible removal of any stain.

Wood

When solid wood furniture is correctly maintained and exposed to daylight, over the years the wood will acquire a beautiful patina. As wood is a living natural product, color variations and knots as well as lines in the finished furniture may occur. Solid wood is a living material that is affected by daylight, temperature and humidity. The ideal relative humidity for solid wood tables is between 30% and 60%. Caring for your wooden furniture depends on the surface treatment. Soaped treated furniture should be regularly soaped and oiled treated furniture should be treated with special wood oil once in a while, whereas lacquered wood furniture only needs cleaning with a damp cloth.
