Brand New Works Brand New Works New Works was founded by Nikolaj Meier and Knut Bendik Humlevik from the desire to establish a design house where design comes to life with care and intent, and where there is room for creative experiments — a place for new works. While Nikolaj juggles numbers and daily operations as CEO, Knut Bendik is responsible for the particular look and feel as Creative Director. Together with a small, dedicated team, they set out to define a curated collection of elevated, yet accessible objects for living. It is through this objective that they shape the continuously evolving story of New Works.New Works presents a collection at the intersection between old and new. Light and dark. Design and art. Our work pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality, whilst challenging the contemporary forms of today. We collaborate with an international group of renowned designers and artisans, who display a matching fascination with sculptural forms and honest materials. As a poetic tale, the Karl-Johan lamp now finds its way back to its source of inspiration: nature. Karl-Johan Portable is a small and easily transportable version of the original design, where the soft design language, which characterises the lamp, has been made particularly durable. This makes it possible to take the lamp out into the elements of nature; on the terrace from the first early spring evenings and for a swim on the beach on a warm summer night. The material is impact-resistant and repels rain, dew, sand, and soil so that the lamp can accompany you both indoors and outdoors – wherever and whenever.
